Titan Ultra returned to the win column in dramatic fashion, holding off a determined Macau comeback to escape with a thrilling 132-128 victory in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. The Giant Risers looked unstoppable early, building a commanding lead before Macau mounted an impressive rally that nearly turned the game upside down. In the end, Titan’s composure and timely baskets proved enough to secure a much-needed victory.

Titan Ultra Explodes Out of the Gates

The Giant Risers wasted no time asserting themselves. From the opening tip, Titan’s offense was firing on all cylinders as they poured in 47 first-quarter points, overwhelming Macau with fast-paced ball movement, accurate outside shooting, and relentless attacks in transition.

Every possession seemed to generate a quality scoring opportunity, allowing Titan to stretch the lead to as much as 29 points during the second quarter. Their aggressive defense also disrupted Macau’s rhythm, forcing turnovers that quickly turned into easy baskets.

It was arguably Titan Ultra’s best offensive half of the conference, with every starter contributing while the bench provided valuable minutes to keep the momentum rolling.

Tirrell Brown Delivers Another Superstar Performance

Leading the charge once again was Tirrell Brown, who produced another outstanding all-around performance.

Brown finished with:

  • 36 points
  • 10 rebounds
  • 7 assists

The talented import showcased his versatility throughout the contest. Whether attacking the rim, knocking down mid-range jumpers, or finding open teammates, Brown consistently made the right play.

Most importantly, he delivered in crunch time. As Macau threatened to complete one of the biggest comebacks of the season, Brown scored crucial baskets late in the fourth quarter to halt the momentum and preserve Titan’s advantage.

Balanced Support Fuels the Giant Risers

While Brown grabbed the headlines, Titan’s supporting cast played an equally important role in the victory.

Joshua Munzon contributed 18 points, providing steady perimeter scoring and leadership throughout the contest. Roi Sumang added 14 points, controlling the pace whenever he handled the basketball, while Bryan Sajonia chipped in 13 points to keep Macau’s defense under constant pressure.

The balanced offensive production prevented Macau from focusing solely on Brown, allowing Titan to maintain its scoring efficiency for most of the game.

Macau Refuses to Go Away

Despite facing a huge deficit, Macau never stopped competing.

Powered by import De’Vondre Perry, the Giant Pandas gradually erased the lead with an explosive second-half performance. Perry repeatedly connected from long distance while aggressively attacking inside, sparking a furious rally that energized both his teammates and the crowd.

With just over a minute remaining, Macau had trimmed the once-massive deficit to only 130-124, putting enormous pressure on Titan Ultra after trailing by nearly 30 earlier in the contest.

The comeback showcased Macau’s resilience and offensive firepower, proving why they had entered the matchup with growing confidence.

Titan Holds Its Nerve in Winning Time

Momentum had completely shifted toward Macau during the closing minutes, but Titan refused to panic.

Instead of rushing possessions, the Giant Risers trusted their offense. Brown calmly knocked down a key jumper before Titan’s defense forced Macau into difficult late-game opportunities.

Those clutch plays allowed Titan to finally stop the bleeding and close out the contest before Macau could complete its remarkable comeback.

Although the final margin was much closer than expected, the victory demonstrated Titan’s ability to execute under pressure after watching its comfortable advantage nearly disappear.

A Sweet Revenge for Titan Ultra

Beyond ending a two-game losing streak, the victory carried extra significance.

Earlier in the conference, Macau defeated Titan in a heartbreaking contest, making this rematch an opportunity for redemption. This time, the Giant Risers learned from their previous mistakes by making enough winning plays down the stretch.

The result also allowed Titan to improve its standing while drawing level with Macau in the team standings, giving new life to its campaign as the Governors’ Cup continues.

Macau Shows Plenty of Fight

Although Macau came up short, the visiting squad earned plenty of respect.

De’Vondre Perry delivered a spectacular performance with 45 points and 14 rebounds, nearly carrying Macau all the way back from a massive deficit. Ramon Cao also recorded a strong double-double, while Jeffrey Ma and Damian Chongqui provided valuable support during the comeback attempt.

Unfortunately for Macau, the slow start proved too much to overcome despite an outstanding second-half effort.

Looking Ahead

Titan Ultra will look to build momentum after earning one of its biggest wins of the conference. The team’s explosive offense, combined with Brown’s elite playmaking, provides optimism as they continue their push toward playoff contention.

For Macau, the defeat serves as a reminder that every possession matters. While the second-half rally highlighted the team’s resilience, avoiding another slow start will be critical in upcoming games.

One thing is certain: if these two teams meet again later in the tournament, basketball fans can expect another entertaining showdown filled with momentum swings and high-level performances.

Titan Ultra ultimately walked away victorious, surviving Macau’s relentless comeback and securing a hard-earned 132-128 triumph that could prove to be a turning point in its Governors’ Cup campaign.
