The Zamboanga SiKat continued their impressive campaign in the 2026 MPBL season after delivering a commanding wire-to-wire performance against the Parañaque Patriots, securing a convincing victory in the second game at the Pasay Astrodome. Behind an outstanding all-around effort from Levi Hernandez, Zamboanga cruised to its eighth win of the season, strengthening its position in the league standings and further boosting its confidence as the playoff race intensifies.
Hernandez earned Player of the Game honors after producing an exceptional performance that showcased both his scoring ability and leadership. The talented guard erupted for 24 points while also collecting four rebounds, providing the offensive spark that fueled Zamboanga from the opening tip until the final buzzer.
Zamboanga Takes Control Early
From the moment the game began, the Zamboanga SiKat made their intentions clear. They wasted no time establishing an aggressive tempo on both ends of the floor, attacking the basket with confidence while tightening their defensive pressure against the Parañaque offense.
The SiKat quickly found their rhythm offensively, moving the basketball efficiently and creating quality scoring opportunities. Hernandez immediately became the focal point of the attack, knocking down perimeter shots, finishing in transition, and consistently putting pressure on the Patriots’ defense.
Their defensive execution was equally impressive. Zamboanga limited Parañaque’s easy scoring chances, forcing difficult shots and preventing the Patriots from building any momentum throughout the opening quarter.
The early surge allowed Zamboanga to seize a comfortable advantage, one they would never relinquish.
Levi Hernandez Delivers a Complete Performance
Every successful team needs a player willing to step up in critical moments, and for Zamboanga, that player was once again Levi Hernandez.
His 24-point outing came through efficient shot selection and relentless offensive aggression. Whether attacking the rim or finding open space for jumpers, Hernandez consistently punished every defensive adjustment made by Parañaque.
Beyond his scoring, Hernandez contributed in several other areas that do not always appear on the scoreboard. His four rebounds helped initiate fast-break opportunities, while his composure with the basketball allowed Zamboanga to maintain offensive flow throughout the contest.
Whenever Parañaque attempted to make a run, Hernandez responded with timely baskets that quickly restored his team’s momentum.
His leadership on the floor was evident as he constantly encouraged teammates, directed offensive sets, and maintained the intensity that defined Zamboanga’s performance.
It was a complete Player of the Game performance that highlighted why Hernandez has become one of the SiKat’s most dependable contributors this season.
Team Basketball Leads to Another Victory
Although Hernandez stole the spotlight, the victory was built on an outstanding team effort.
Zamboanga’s offensive execution featured excellent ball movement, unselfish passing, and disciplined shot selection. Multiple players contributed valuable minutes, allowing the SiKat to maintain a high level of energy throughout all four quarters.
The bench also played a significant role by providing quality production whenever the starters rested. Their ability to sustain the lead prevented Parañaque from finding opportunities to mount a comeback.
On defense, Zamboanga remained disciplined from start to finish. The team consistently rotated well, contested perimeter shots, and controlled the defensive glass, limiting the Patriots to one possession on many trips down the floor.
That balanced approach has become one of the biggest strengths of the SiKat throughout the season.
Parañaque Struggles to Find Momentum
For the Parañaque Patriots, the game proved challenging from the opening minutes.
Despite several attempts to close the gap, they were unable to generate sustained offensive momentum against Zamboanga’s disciplined defense. Missed opportunities, turnovers, and the inability to slow down Hernandez prevented them from seriously threatening the SiKat’s lead.
Parañaque continued to compete throughout the contest, showing determination despite facing a growing deficit. However, every time the Patriots managed to score consecutive baskets, Zamboanga responded immediately with another offensive run.
The inability to string together defensive stops ultimately prevented Parañaque from making the game competitive during the second half.
While the result was disappointing, the Patriots can use the experience as motivation to regroup and improve as the season continues.
Defensive Intensity Sets the Tone
One of the biggest reasons behind Zamboanga’s success was its commitment to defense.
The SiKat consistently communicated on switches, closed out aggressively on shooters, and forced Parañaque into difficult offensive possessions. Their physical play disrupted passing lanes while their disciplined rotations limited easy baskets inside the paint.
This defensive identity has become a hallmark of the SiKat throughout the campaign.
Instead of relying solely on offensive firepower, Zamboanga continues to prove that winning basketball begins with defensive effort, hustle, and teamwork.
Their ability to combine strong defense with efficient offense has made them one of the tougher teams to beat in the league.
Eight Wins and Growing Confidence
With the victory, Zamboanga improved to eight wins on the season, another important milestone as the MPBL playoff picture continues to take shape.
Each victory not only strengthens their standing but also builds confidence heading into tougher matchups later in the schedule.
The chemistry displayed throughout this game suggests that the SiKat are finding their best basketball at the right time. Players understand their roles, trust one another, and continue to execute the coaching staff’s game plan with consistency.
If they maintain this level of discipline and energy, Zamboanga has every opportunity to become a serious contender during the postseason.
Looking Ahead
The SiKat will now shift their attention to their upcoming assignments, hoping to extend their winning momentum even further.
Levi Hernandez’s outstanding performance serves as another reminder of the talent within the Zamboanga roster, but the team’s greatest strength remains its collective effort. Every player contributes, every possession matters, and that commitment has translated into victories throughout the season.
As the competition intensifies, consistency will become even more important. Based on their latest performance against Parañaque, Zamboanga appears more than ready for the challenges ahead.
Their wire-to-wire triumph at the Pasay Astrodome showcased a team playing with confidence, discipline, and determination—qualities that every championship contender must possess.
With Levi Hernandez leading the way with 24 points and four rebounds, and the entire roster contributing on both ends of the floor, the Zamboanga SiKat celebrated another convincing victory while improving to eight wins in the 2026 MPBL season. The performance not only reinforced their playoff aspirations but also sent a strong message to the rest of the league that Zamboanga continues to be a team capable of competing with anyone on any given night.
