MANILA, Philippines — The Abra Solid North Weavers continued their dominance in the 2026 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Season, producing a historic performance on Monday after dismantling the Bacolod Maskarras, 129-45, at the One Arena in Cainta, Rizal Province.
Powered by a sensational outing from reigning Most Valuable Player Dave Ildefonso, the defending champions not only stretched their winning streak to 13 consecutive games but also rewrote the MPBL record books. Their 84-point victory margin became the largest in league history, eclipsing the previous record of an 82-point win set by the San Juan Knights during a 146-64 rout of the Mindoro Tamaraws on Sept. 13, 2022.
The convincing victory also improved Abra’s record to 15-1, allowing the Weavers to move ahead of San Juan (14-1) for sole possession of first place in the league standings and further establish themselves as the premier championship contender this season.
Ildefonso Delivers the Performance of His MPBL Career
Ildefonso once again reminded everyone why he is the league’s reigning MVP, turning in a spectacular all-around performance that left Bacolod without any answers.
The former collegiate star erupted for a career-high 40 points, while also collecting eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals in another dominant display. Whether attacking the basket, finishing in transition, or creating opportunities for his teammates, Ildefonso dictated the tempo from the opening tip until he exited the game with the outcome long decided.
His aggressive mindset was evident early as he consistently found seams in Bacolod’s defense, scoring in a variety of ways and forcing the Maskarras to make constant defensive adjustments that ultimately proved ineffective.
Aside from reaching a new personal scoring milestone, Ildefonso’s leadership helped set the tone for Abra’s relentless effort on both ends of the floor. His outstanding performance earned him Best Player of the Game honors, adding another memorable chapter to what has already been an impressive season.

Raven Gonzales dominated inside, producing an outstanding 19-point, 20-rebound double-double while adding two assists and two blocks. His presence in the paint limited Bacolod’s second-chance opportunities while creating plenty of extra possessions for Abra.
Playmaker Nico Elorde contributed 13 points, seven assists, and two rebounds, effectively orchestrating the offense and ensuring the ball found the open man throughout the contest.
Alfred Batino also reached double figures with 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Tucker Molina, Josh Asuncion, and John Figueroa each added 10 points.
With seven players scoring in double digits, Abra once again demonstrated why it possesses one of the deepest rotations in the MPBL. Every player who stepped onto the floor contributed, allowing the coaching staff to maintain fresh legs and relentless intensity throughout all four quarters.
Statistical Dominance Across the Board
The final score only told part of the story.
Abra completely overwhelmed Bacolod in nearly every statistical category, beginning with a commanding 65-36 advantage in rebounds. The Weavers consistently controlled the glass, limiting Bacolod to one shot while generating numerous second-chance opportunities of their own.
Their interior dominance translated into a staggering 70-10 edge in points in the paint, as Abra repeatedly attacked the basket and capitalized on defensive breakdowns.
The defending champions were equally devastating in transition, outscoring Bacolod 38-4 on fast breaks after forcing turnovers and quickly converting defense into offense.
Abra also held a 19-2 advantage in second-chance points, further illustrating its dominance on the offensive boards.
Defensively, the Weavers were just as impressive. Their aggressive pressure disrupted Bacolod’s offensive rhythm from start to finish, forcing difficult shots and limiting the Maskarras to only 45 total points, the lowest scoring output by any team in the MPBL this season.

For Bacolod, it was a night to forget.
The Maskarras struggled to establish any offensive rhythm against Abra’s suffocating defense and failed to slow down the defending champions on the other end of the floor.
Desmond Price led Bacolod with 12 points, while Emman Galman added 11 points. Rafael Go contributed a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds, but their efforts were overshadowed by Abra’s relentless execution.
The loss dropped Bacolod to 3-18, making its remaining games even more critical as it attempts to finish the season on a positive note.

The victory was about much more than extending a winning streak.
